Raising the Standard: UK Marine Services Directors Awarded Fellowship of the ISSE

Updated: Sep 9

We’re delighted to share some incredible news from UK Marine Services Ltd — our Co-Directors, Barry Burnell and Elliott Berry, have both been awarded Fellowship status with the Institute of Specialist Surveyors and Engineers (ISSE).

This accolade is a formal recognition of their outstanding contribution to the marine industry, particularly in advancing technical standards, safety, and innovation in marine surveying and engineering.

What Does Fellowship Mean?

The Fellowship of the ISSE is not awarded lightly. It recognises individuals who have demonstrated a sustained and significant impact in their field. Barry and Elliott have spent decades working at the forefront of marine engineering, survey, and consultancy — building a reputation for excellence, professionalism, and integrity.

Their technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and commitment to improving industry standards have helped shape best practices across the sector. From working on some of the largest and most complex vessels on the River Thames, to advising on critical safety standards and operational procedures, their influence is felt far beyond our company.

Congratulations once again to Barry and Elliott — your dedication makes waves across the industry, and we’re proud to call you our own.
